Self Tape Professional

Film+TV Acting Class
for Intermediate/Advanced Actors
Thursdays, 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM (PDT)
Ongoing, via Zoom

Instructor: Michael Bean
Cost: $210 for 4 classes

Why Train Online?

Most professional auditions now happen via self-tape or Zoom. This class ensures you’re prepared to book work in today’s industry by developing both the creative and technical skills needed for auditions and on-set performance—right from the space where you’ll be taping most of your auditions.

This class is for intermediate/advanced actors who want to explore and expand their technical and expressive abilities for film and television in a supportive, creative environment.

Actors will walk away knowing that all of the technical and personal problems that come with self-taping are solvable:

● How do you adjust a script that was written to be shot professionally to tape at home?

● How do you perform at home so it looks like you’re a real, living person, in a real place?

● How do you create a unique, compelling performance while still telling the story?

Personalized

Michael personally assigns each student a film or TV script tailored to their experience, interests, and goals.

Collaborative

Class starts with a check in about what’s most alive and interesting for each actor, and ends with the invitation to reflect on what stood out about each actor’s work during the class.

Professional

Actors should come to class prepared, with their scene off-book and ready to take direction.

Measurable

All work is recorded and uploaded to a private folder, allowing you to track your progress over time.

Control Your Imagination, Not Your Face

Here’s what I see happen with actors all the time: there’s a result the actor wants, they try to achieve that result in a mechanical way by controlling their facial expression, and the outcome is acting that feels forced, false and stiff.
